The Kitchen

Taylor walked into the unfamiliar kitchen. "Heeelllllloooooooooo, some person named Katherina or something like that hereee?" she spoke in the empty kitchen standing at the doorway. She walked around the kitchen and observed everything before she began rationing out the food.

"Eh this is too boring," Taylor said twirling her hair as she walked out of the kitchen and ignored her duty.

Katherine walked into the empty kitchen. She noticed on one of the counters it looked as if someone started rationing some food but got lazy and left. And the person didn't even ration it equally!! Katherine growled and dumped out the uneven rations onto the counter before sorting it even. Fruits would go in a designated container, vegetables would go in another, and so forth. She hummed a lullaby to herself that she used to sing to her sister when her sister had troubles sleeping. Placing each container up in the fridge and cupboards. Then, she rummaged around in a few drawers looking for a cook book.

Felix snuck out successfully this time, making his way into the kitchen. 'Mew'. It sounded like a pleading for food. 'Mew'. He continues, pawing the floor, as if begging for dinner. 'Mew mew?' He wouldn't shush. He walked around and under the chairs, exploring this new area, whilst 'begging' for the food Reanah couldn't give him.

Katherine couldn't help but smile at the kitty. "No, cat. This food isn't for you! I think there is cat food somewhere around here.." Katherine told the cat, mumbling the last part to herself. She felt dumb talking to a cat, but the thing was adorable. She didn't know where the cat food was kept, though.

He starts to purr happily, rubbing against the smiling girl's legs. 'Mew!'. He was excited, not understanding her words, but hoping it was about food. 'Mew mew'. He circled her legs, nuzzling against her. This worked every time, at least with Reanah.

Katherine wasn't sure what to do. She couldn't give the cat any people food, because there was only so much to go around. She couldn't pet the animal either, not wanting cat hair on her hands while handling food. "S-shoo cat.." She mumbled quietly, pulling a book on how to make dinner foods out. She tried to focus on the words, but the cat was really distracting -_-

Felix's 'mews' died down, and all he did was stare at her with extreme curiosity, almost as if to say 'No food?'. He 'mewed' one last time, nuzzled her leg to say goodbye, and trotted out, hopefully to find food.

Juli wandered around aimlessly and found a girl in the kitchen. She seemed busy reading some cooking book. Juli watched her, and suddenly was reminded of her old nanny. Her nanny made her food and Juli always loved it. She coughed and said, "Hi, uh, do you need any help? I have a debt to my old nanny, she uh, was an amazing cook. And I'm Juli," Juli regretted saying that much information about her, but too late.

Juli could hear Regina yelling down the hall. Good lord, Juli thought. "I'll talk to you later, bye bye" Juli said.

Before Katherine could relpy, the girl was gone..T_T She did need help though, because half of this book was in french!!!! Katherine wearily plopped down in a chair, suddenly tired. Shouldn't people be coming here for food soon? And shouldn't someone be helpinher? Or is Katherine a lone wolf in a job she doesn't even know anything about.

"SUP YA'LL need some yummies for ma tummies," Taylor said bursting into the kitchen.

Katherine blinked as a bouncy girl came in. Right. "Erm, anything specific you can and can't eat?" Sne asked quietly, lifting her head from the marbel counter. Finally, a person. But should or should she not be excited? That was the question. Hopefully she wouldn't have to slap this girl with words.

"Oh yes, you must be one of the chefs here," Taylor said delighted since there was FINALLY some servants here. "I would like some Phở Gà hold the onions please thank you~" she said in a cheerful tone and patted the girl's head. "And make it quick or I could fire you."

"I am NOT a chef, and you can NOT fire me! And I don't speak French, what is Pho. What is Ga?!?! Even then, I don't think we have that. I'm sorry." T_T Katherine said in a cold and angry tone. She wasn't a chef! And she wasn't really sorry, she just didn't want to scare the incorrigible. Actually, she did want to. But, complications. She didn't want to be hated.

Well, Taylor angry yet another person, it wasn't the first time though. "Sheesh all I did was ask for food!" she said. Couldn't she get ANYTHING in the poor person's mansion? Taylor still didn't understand most of the servants were eaten by zombies. "Here, look I'll make something for us." Taylor grabbed some carrots onions, and other vegetables and started cutting some up. "Make yourself useful and go get some water. We're making soup!:D "

Katherine just kind of stared before fetching the girl some water. "Remember, don't make too much! We only have so much to last, and it's not like we can go outside and.." Katherine trailed off, handing the girl water. This girl better make good soup, and not do something like burn it. Is that even possible?

"Alright, whatever," Taylor said waving her hands as she reached for the water.

Taylor grabbed a pot and put in half the portion of the vegetables, then the water. BAM!!. An explosion splashing the whole kitchen in delicious soup. Taylor always got chemistry and cooking confused. Taylor wasn't very good at chemistry though.

"Not again!" she said still frozen with the hot soup in her face. She wiped off the soup in disgust, caring more about herself than the splattered soup all over the walls. "My dresssss ;__;." At least she still had the other portion of cut up vegetables to work with.

Katherine jumped back right away as the soup exploded. "God damn it! Your dress is not what to be worried about right now, you just wasted a bunch of great soup. You know what, you shouldn't even eat. At least not this meal, to make up for the lost." Katherine said bitterly as she began to clean up the disaster that the idiotic girl had created. Katherine knew it was a bad idea in the first place to have her even in a kitchen. Hell, Katherine wasn't even a chef, and she was positive that she could not explode soup. Only a pure idiot could do such a thing.

Whin wandered into the kitchen, watching a girl clean up soup from the counters and floors. Not really knowing why, Whin silently took a rag from the sink and began wiping the soup from the stovetop. She wished that she could talk to the girl, to introduce herself, but her lips remained closed in permanent silence. The deaf and mute girl worked swiftly, not wanting the soup to burn and smell bad.

Katherine smiled happily at the help of the girl she didn't know. And she was quiet, another good thing. Katherine waved and then continued scrubbing up the awful mess in silence, still burning with rage at Taylor. She was very foolish to believe the preppy chick could even do anything aside from applying eyeliner or braiding hair. Katherine wasn't quite sure how Taylor has survived this long even. Sighing silently, she wished she could thank the other girl,but she was afraid the anger within her caused by Taylor would be too obvious, and she didn't want to scare away the nice girl.

Continuing to scrub away, Whin was also appreciative of the silence. It meant that she didn't have to explain her own. She lifted the pot of soup and happened to smell the contents. Whoever had tried to cook had obviously failed. It smelled absolutely terrible. Grimacing, Whin dumped the entire pot of soup down the sink's drain and activated the garbage disposal, not able to hear the gargling whirl of so many good ingredients going to waste. She cleaned the pot out, scrubbing it with a clean rag before drying it out with a towel. After setting it back onto the non-heated stovetop, Whin grabbed a pad of paper that was magnetically attached to the fridge. She scribbled "Is it alright if I cook some soup or something? I actually know how to cook, unlike whoever that was."

She ripped the paper off and handed it to the girl, hoping she wasn't asking for too much.

Katherine watched with appreciative eyes at the girl. She was so..nice to help clean up a mess that she did not even create. People like that now and days were hard to come by. The silence they worked in was not an uneasy silence, but more of a comfortable one. Katherine was slowly relaxing from her sudden burst of anger, when the quiet girl offered a note to Katherine. She wasn't sure why the girl had written it, maybe not to disturb Katherine, but whatever reason, Katherine just bobbed her head smiling.

"As long as you don't create a disaster like her." She spoke, jabbing her finger over at Taylor. Taylor claimed she could cook, and look what happened. However, this girl seemed like she could probably cook better than Katherine. "Oh, and be careful..there is only so much food to go around." She added slowly, making sure the girl understood.

Having read enough of the girl's lips to understand that it was alright to cook, Whin smiled and nodded her thanks. It had been awhile since she had last tried to cook something. When she had been taught to cook at home, she had found herself loving it.

Finding a cutting board and steel chef's knife, Whin set to work dicing onions, carrots, and celery. Her cuts were precise and even; it was obvious that she knew what she was doing.
